Born on November 19, 1953, in Waipahu, Hawaii, Tom Villard was the son of Ronald Louis Villard, a photochemical engineer, and Diane Ruth Villard, a teacher for students with emotional challenges. He grew up in Spencerport, New York, alongside his two brothers, Tim and Terry, and one sister, Susan. Tom attended E.J. Wilson High School before spending two years at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania. Afterward, he pursued his acting career in New York City by studying at the Lee Strasberg Acting Studio and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
