Tracy Layne

Tracy Layne was an American actor who is best known for The Vigilantes Are Coming, Winds of the Wasteland, and Sergeant Murphy.

Personal and Family Life

Tracy Layne was born on February 12, 1890, in Newport, Nebraska. He served in World War I and was also known as a horse trainer. In the 1910s, he gained recognition as the “Cowboy Poet” in regions of Oregon and Washington. Tracy had a large family, and he once reflected at a reunion how many descendants he had started.

Career

Tracy worked as a bit player and stuntman in the film industry, particularly with Nat Levine’s productions, appearing in numerous serials. Notably, he played a prison guard in the 1933 serial “The Three Musketeers,” filmed at the historic Yuma Territorial Prison. His career featured a variety of roles, showcasing his versatility as an actor.

Death and Legacy

Tracy Layne passed away on November 1, 1981, in Gladstone, Oregon. His contributions to early cinema, especially in Western serials, have left a lasting impact on film history. He is remembered for his unique roles and his connection to the culture of the American West.
