Born on April 14, 1897, in Detroit, Michigan, Valerie was the sister of Louis Germonprez. She married Erich von Stroheim on October 16, 1920, and they had one child together, Josef von Stroheim. Their marriage lasted until Erich’s death in 1957.
Career
Valerie appeared as an extra in films during the silent film era and had notable roles in several movies, including Blind Husbands and The Heart of Humanity. In the early 1930s, a tragic incident occurred when a dry shampoo treatment ignited at a beauty salon, causing her to be disfigured.
Death and Legacy
Valerie Germonprez passed away on October 22, 1988, in Sherman Oaks, California, USA. Despite the hardships she faced, including a difficult marriage and her injury, she is remembered for her contributions to early cinema and her association with Erich von Stroheim.
