Vera Pashennaya was the daughter of the classical actor Nikolai Roshchin-Insarov. She studied acting at the Moscow Theatrical School from 1904 to 1907 and began performing at the Maly Theatre in 1907. She was married to Vladimir Feodorovich Gribunin.
