Victor Izay was born on December 23, 1923, in Watertown, New York, to Hungarian immigrants George and Helen Izay. After the stock market crash of 1929, his father, who worked in real estate, faced financial troubles. Izay served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the D-Day landings. After the war, he attended Los Angeles City College, where he studied drama alongside Victor French and Vic Tayback.
Marriages
Victor was married twice. His first wife was Connie Izay, with whom he had three children; she passed away in 1982. He later married Jo Roybal Izay in 1983, and they remained together until his death in 2014. Victor had a grandchild named Ryan Izay.
