Wayne Cochran was born on May 10, 1939, in Thomaston, Georgia. He had two marriages; his first was to Inez Newton, from which he divorced. Later, he married Monica Powell in 1965, with whom he had three children. Wayne lived in Miami, Florida, until his wife’s death in February 2017.

Career

Cochran began his music career in the mid-1950s, forming his first band after being expelled from high school for his unique hairstyle. He recorded many singles throughout the 1960s and became known for his house band performances at clubs in Miami. Cochran was also recognized for his guest appearances on TV shows and his acting roles in series like “The Wild Wild West.” In 1981, he became a born-again Christian and started his own ministry.
