Wayne Oxford was born on August 17, 1925, in Los Angeles, California, to James and Ruby Oxford, who were Methodist missionaries. He spent a significant part of his early life in Japan but relocated to Fort Worth, Texas, just before World War II began. He graduated as valedictorian from Northside High School in 1943.
Career
After high school, Wayne joined the Army and was trained as a military intelligence officer. He served in Japan as a translator before returning to the U.S. and later joining the California Air National Guard, eventually becoming a Captain. After his military service, he became a professor, earning a Ph.D. and teaching at the University of Hawaii until his retirement in 1989.
Death and Legacy
Wayne Oxford passed away on October 3, 2017, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He left behind a legacy as a dedicated military officer, educator, and actor who contributed significantly to his fields through his service and teachings.
