Yaeko Utagawa was born Fukagawa Masae in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, on August 22, 1903. She began her acting career in 1918 at the Kobe Jurakukan theater. Inspired by the film “Yuhi no Mura,” she pursued her dream of becoming a film actress, eventually joining Shochiku Kamata in 1922.

After joining Shochiku Kamata, Utagawa made her debut in “No no Hana,” gaining recognition for her versatility and emotional performances.
